Boxnard: The Animation (Trailer)
Film description: Oxnard, California is known for boxing and has earned its nickname “Boxnard” because it has produced many professional boxers and multiple world champions. Despite its success in boxing, Boxnard has a negative reputation and is often referred to as a “bad” city. Boxing can change this. Boxing teaches us lessons that go beyond the ring. Boxing teaches us that we can fight negative stories with positive ones. We can tell counterstories as counterpunches to “knock out” false, negative portrayals about us. These counterstories as counterpunches can empower us and our communities. Directed and narrated by Martín Alberto Gonzalez

International Adoptions
Over the past sixty years, over a million ‘orphans’ were adopted by Western families from around the world. Now many are discovering their past was a lie. From the children who were stolen from their mothers during the Pinochet dictatorship, to Africa’s fake orphans, international adoption is at the heart of an unprecedented scandal. We join investigative journalists, activists and researchers in South Korea, Sweden, France, Chile, Germany, Holland and Switzerland. How did this colossal, lucrative market manage to prosper? And why does it live on today? Even today, women are still being manipulated, threatened or tricked into giving up babies – often with the blessing of government authorities. If fraudulent practices continue today, in spite of the Hague Convention that has regulated international adoption since 1993, it is because the system itself is flawed and intrinsically favours corruption.

Since I Been Down - Kimonti Carter
In 1993, Washington State voters passed the three-strikes law and sent children to prison for life without parole. We feared these children as irredeemable superpredators. Our fear was wrong, but in 2020, sixteen states continue to keep children in prison for life. SINCE I BEEN DOWN shows the power of these children, now adults nearly forty years later, creating a true path to justice and healing from inside their prison walls. “We dare say that a lot of the answers society is searching for (today) will be found in prison” -- Touré Zimbabwe.

SHRINKING SPACE
Being a human rights activist and an NGO staff member in Palestine is a high-risk endeavor. Even when the struggle is for women’s rights or the right to health. In 2021, Israel designated six of the largest Palestinian NGOs in the West Bank as terrorist groups without presenting evidence. Some of their directors and staff have been detained or targeted with military-grade spyware such as Pegasus. Over the past two years, the Israel-Gaza war has dominated international headlines—but what was happening before October 7, 2023? Through newly uncovered archives, unseen personal footage, and images captured in the West Bank in 2023, this documentary sheds light on how the state of Israel set its sights on dismantling Palestine’s civil society.
