Do you have 72 hours to tell a story that can change the world?
The Pembroke Taparelli Arts & Film Festival (PTAFF) invites youth and adults to take part in the 72-Hour Filmmaker Challenge.

In just three days, filmmakers will write, shoot, edit, and submit a short film that explores labor and wage equity. From real-life struggles to imagined futures, this challenge amplifies voices, sparks dialogue, and places your story on an international stage.

What is the 72-Hour Filmmaker Challenge?

Do you have 72 hours to tell a story that could change the world?


The Pembroke Taparelli Arts & Film Festival (PTAFF) invites youth and adult creators to take on the 2025 72-Hour Filmmaker Challenge. This unique competition pushes filmmakers to write, shoot, edit, and deliver a powerful short film in just three days.

This year’s theme, “Work Worth: Stories of Labor and Wage Equity,” challenges participants to explore real-life experiences, historical movements, and visionary futures where dignity, fairness, and equity define the world of work.

Who Can Participate?

🎬 Youth Filmmakers (ages 14–20)

  • Grouped in categories: 14–16 and 17–20

  • Teams of up to 5 encouraged (solo entries also accepted)

  • Younger contributors may participate on teams

 

🎬 Adult Filmmakers (21 and over)

  • Independent creators or small teams welcome

Film Length: 10 minutes maximum
Genres: Revealed at challenge launch

Timeline & Key Dates

  • Register Now → Secure your spot and access prep sessions

  • Oct 16, 2025 → Free workshops begin

  • Oct 24, 2025 | 5PM PST → Challenge officially launches

  • Oct 27, 2025 | 11:59PM PST → Submissions due

  • Nov 7–9, 2025 → Winning films screened at PTAFF in Los Angeles

Judging Criteria

  • Relevance to theme (30%)

  • Creativity & originality (25%)

  • Technical quality (20%)

  • Social impact (15%)

  • Clarity of message (10%)
